Industrial panoramas, 2014
In this series I was interested in exploring the relationship between human and nature and the process of how industrialization has transformed the landscape. This interest originates from my personal experience growing up in an area of Poland which was strongly affected by industrialization and coal mining. During my travels in the United States, I began discovering a variety of environments. The most influential are landscapes that have been strongly affected by humans and the still naturally pristine habitats left untouched by mankind. Experiencing these environments enhanced my interest and desire to use landscape imagery in my art. My prints refer to passing time, travel and landscape transformation. The black shapes and monoliths on the print are a personal reference to the scenery I experienced in my youth. By stretching and overlapping images, I aim to reenact my experience and bring it face to face with the viewer.
